Yoga Nirvana on a Budget (June 8th, 2009)

Just becuase the economy is out of whack doesn't mean your chakra has to follow. Even though regular yoga sessions can drain your bank account as quickly as they fulfill your soul, there are ways to find nirvana in the Bay Area on the cheap. Here are five pointers ... Get a membership - The Mindful Body offers monthly passes starting at $150 with more than seven classes to choose from every day ...

Pure Bliss - SF Spas (December 11th, 2008)

Calling itself "a center for movement, bodywork and personal inner work," this Lower Pacific Heights facility boats two large yoga studios and ten massage rooms. (Big bonus: separate changing rooms and shower for women and men.) Co-owner Hillary Bergman is devoted to providing "affordable massage to the largest number of people"; at $66 for an hour and $98 for a 1 hour session (with more than 50 therapists on staff!), she is certainly on track here. With 15 years in the community and tons of devotes, it's clear that The Mindful Body is doing something very right.

- David Andrusia, Edge San Francisco

Winding down, post-workout (December 7th, 2008)

Regular massages keep me going, and I have always received phenomenal massage here. There is a yoga class for all levels and the instructors are superb. I like to give their three-session trail as gifts to my friends.

Shape- up Guide (January 2005)

Jason Crandell has a cult following, but the other teacheres at The Mindful body aren't too shabby, either. Deborah Burkman stands out for her dedication to her students, often helping them with problems off the mat as well as on.

Frugal Traveler - San Francisco Is Singing a New Tune
Bottom Line: Beyone Fisherman's Warf (March 19th, 2000)

Better still is the Hatha yoga class at The Mindful Body.

- Daisann McLane, New York Times
