It is directed by a lively, dedicated woman named Hillary Be rgmann, whose father, Roy Bergmann, an investment banker, had always loved Yoga and took a "leap of faith" some 15 years ago to set up what has become basically a "wellness center" in spacious quarters just shy of the Divisadero street hill. There are large, gym-like rooms for group exercising and smaller ones for individual massage.
Hillary, who has always enjoyed the theater and studied business in college, now feels "blessed" to be involved in an enterprise that is restorative- that helps people become "more physically relaxed and more grounded." That's the way, she says, to inner peace.
Lest there are worries that Yoga is too strenuous a therapy (it really isn't, says Hillary), there are plenty of beginner and "restorative" classes that are particularly gentle in approach and aimed at banishing aches and strains. You make contact on the internet at www.themindfulbody.com (a program of classes is displayed) or by phone at 415-931-2639. There are special rates for seniors. Relax, look inward and get away from all the craziness.
