Pre
& Post-Natal Yoga
and Massage Yogis
come in all shapes and sizes. As an expression of our appreciation of the body's
wisdom in every stage of life, the Mindful Body offers special pre and post natal
programs. We invite expectant and new mothers to enjoy our integrated yoga and
massage programs. As you prepare for childbirth and the transition into motherhood,
let the classes, bodywork and consultation led by our experienced staff support
you. Following the birth of your child, you can continue in the moms and babies
class, a joyful way to share yoga practice with your baby and with other new mothers.
Pre-Natal
Yoga Pre-Natal
yoga is offered throughout the week on a drop-in basis and is open to beginning,
intermediate, and advanced students. In these unique classes, our teachers offer
a carefully selected series of asanas (postures) and breathing techniques
to restore balance and vitality while deepening your awareness of pregnancy. Concentration
and relaxation techniques assist in preparing for and providing relief during
labor and birth. Pre-natal yoga also helps relieve physical and emotional discomforts
associated with pregnancy, including back pain, heartburn, constipation, swelling,
and sleeplessness, depression, and anxiety. Our partner yoga classes and workshops
support couples during pregnancy and prepare you both for childbirth.
Moms and
Babies Yoga
Deepen
the experience of bonding with your baby by continuing yoga
practice in the moms and babies class. In these baby-friendly
classes, we focus on postures that help restore alignment and
tone, and provide relief from lifting, carrying, and nursing.
The Postnatal class is a supportive community for new moms and
babies three weeks old to crawling. Parenters are always welcome!
Pre-Natal
Massage Whether
done alone or with pre-natal yoga, massage can ease the physical discomforts that
may accompany pregnancy. Along with other techniques, we use a soft body pillow
to support you completely in a comfortable side-lying position. During a nurturing
full-body session, we concentrate especially on the lower back, shoulders, and
neck. Mindful Body therapists are carefully trained and reviewed before joining
our pre-natal staff. Acupuncture
and Chinese Medicine Jamie
Goodman, licensed acupuncturist, is available at The Mindful Body to assist you
with pre-natal and post-partum care. The goal of treatment is to harmonize the
mind, body, and spirit to increase overall health for you and your child. The
Chinese medicine treatment program is very successful in helping couples to conceive,
decreasing miscarriages, reducing nausea, fatigue, and anxiety during pregnancy,
and aiding post partum recovery.
